Street Fighter Mercy page 4

Page four of my lil personal entertainment project, Street Fighter:Mercy

I think four more pages will cover this and then I'll clean them all up and hit the colors.

Street Fighter Mercy

My friend Jeff and I were talking about something he's working on. And I got inspired to do something really fun. So despite being up on a LOT of mandatory work stuff, I decided to do some quick pages of a lil story I've written for personal enjoyment.

The story is of a young Ryu and Ken while still under the tutelage of Gouken. Here are the layouts of the first 3 pages of that story and a lil style sheet of Ken Masters.

These pages are going to get laid out until the story is complete and then I'll go back and clean them up, color and letter them for final works. Honestly, the way this has been flowing I'll likely have this all done rather quickly.

So enjoy the fruits of my overactive imagination in rough form.

Octo Girl

I've been working on lil sketch commissions to help revive a friend's site, called Enter Void.

In the meantime I've been lax on doing my own art. So tonight before bed I just wanted to do something for me. So a quick digi paint doodle of Octo-Girl.

Entervoid

Some friends invited me to join their sequential battle site a long long long long long long time ago. And I joined, but never participated. But I finally got the gall to do a battle against a pal named Lysol(that's just his screen name people.) his art can be seen at http://lysol-jones.deviantart.com

This is the first page of the battle. Mind you these pages are done usually under ridiculous deadlines AND are just for fun. So take it with a grain of salt.

The Touch of Nature

A doodle tonight that went further than expected. I should've known it would when it was getting scanned...and cleaned up in photoshop...and then the flats were laid out...they were all signs. Dear lord I need an intervention, I can't stop!

Things I wish I could do still

Despite years of martial arts training, teaching and competitive fighting, I was NEVER even remotely close to being able to do the things this man can do...and that makes me sad.

Color Dump!

Just a dump of some things I've been working on the last week.
The first one is just a goof of Supergirl and my own character 'Baby' having an intellectual debate about who's stronger.

The second is a color test of Atomic Chimp. It was approved and AC is now officially a green space chimp. Yeehaw.

And the last is from a series of Harry Potter jokes I've been posting on deviantart called 'Dirty Harry' Potter. Sorry Mr.Eastwood. It's messed up jokes that really most people only get if they're Harry Potter fans.

Ann Droid of Atomic Chimp

Well, Atomic Chimp with Greg Thompson(W), Russ Lowery(Col), and Me(lines) is on its way. And to commemorate (before I get too crazy busy with pages), Here's one of the main characters, Ann Droid.

Yes she loves her toaster very very much.

Send Me An Angel

I've been in a major slump lately. And by lately I mean for over a month. I haven't done much art at all and it sucks terribly to find that a big part of your life suddenly is inaccessible. Anyhow, after talking with some friends yesterday and listening to the Real Life song 'Send Me an Angel' I got momentarily inspired to do this piece up.

Enjoy.

The Incredibles: 5 Plus

I'm currently writing and drawing a comic of the Incredibles set 5 years after the movie ended. This is in no way an actual project for publishing. It's just for my own amusement and sequential practice.

So far I've just been designing in my breaks between doing Atomic Chimp stuff.

Here's the lineup so far.

Collaboration efforts

Right now I have an amazing artist staying with me in LA from Scotland, Tanya Roberts. No Beastmaster jokes, please. She's not only one of the most amazing people I've ever met in general, she's also just off the chain when it comes to her artwork.

http://enolianslave.deviantart.com is her website. Check her out if you get a chance.

She's been a real inspiration to me and I haven't produced so much work in a short period for quite some time.

Part of it is the fun I have collaborating with her by coloring some of her linework.

Here's a couple samples of stuff I've colored for her.

Commission Times

Sometimes I love commissions. Sometimes I hate them. But honestly because I do them for other people I'm always pleased with the outcome because I try harder for others.

Can you say...busy?

So I've been busy. Got a new book coming along called Atomic Chimp and the Rocket Rangers. It's the concept, vision and general brain fart of Greg (Hero Camp) Thompson.

I'm really excited about the book and I'm having a ton of fun in the design stage so far. I'll keep everyone posted as designs get closer to final so everyone knows where it's at.

For now, here's a couple pieces I've done recently. Just lil ninjabits of darkness from my cracked skull.

Spider-Man Pages

Well here it is. My 5 pages of Seq's that I've stuffed into my portfolio for pimpin' tomorrow at Wizard World. In retrospect there's some changes that I'd make. But I just plain don't have the time before I have to get to the con. Shame. But ah well, worst that can happen is that I don't get hired. Just means I have time to refine my shit again by the next con (SDCC). I'm hopeful though.
And honestly, I think at the very least I'm getting my name out there more. Which is always a good thing. I also threw in some pinups after the sequentials to present others for cover work, pinups and design stuff. Now the best I can say at this point is that I've worked my ass off the past few weeks in preparation for the con and I think I have a good presentation this year. I've had a lot of fun this year developing as an artist and finally realizing the truth in my friends words who tell me to get off my ass and do something with my work. So I'm knuckling down and fighting to find that niche. So to Ed, Shane, Sean, Jeff and all you other pains in my ass YES I'm trying to get out of accounting. I'm working towards a career in art. What's there left to do now but to do it? Right? I think it was karma though that made it so I don't have a table at SDCC. Sure it would be nice to have made money while there. But this forces me to get off my ass and show my shit around. Last year I really didn't. I didn't show my portfolio to a single soul. I didn't have the drive. Now I do. So pray for me Argentina that I get out of this acconting business soon and into full time art jobbin.

Wizard World LA here I come

Hey all. I'm gonna be at Wizard World LA again this year. This time in Artist Alley table 1395A.

As for the art stuffs. Check out the latest...

I have a portfolio mostly together and I'm gonna be pimping that around. Also at the table there'll be a mockup of a Sketchbook that folks can place an order for by and once they're printed I'll be mailing them out. I'll also be doing sketches, commissions and T-shirt drawings.

So stop by, say hi and make me feel loved. Also going to be with me there is Shane Corn. Of course you know him. He'll be doing the same. Pimping his stuff and selling some swag. Also there will likely be the gathering of peeps afterwards to go get some drinks and as a result act like a bunch of buffoons. Woo! Fun.

Hope to see you all there.

Amazing Joy Buzzards

The Attack of the Ghoul From Iponema!

Based on a joke which is based on a horrible women I know which is based on....I dunno a sick joke on the world by the cosmos? I dunno.

Anyhow, this pinup is for my friend Mark Smith for his book Amazing Joy Buzzards. If you haven't read it, beat yourself with a hammer for fifteen minutes THEN go out and buy the books! It's a fantastic read.

Where it all started

So I've had a cartoony style developing for several years now. Most often people knew my realistic/traditional cartoony stuff until I started studying folks like Meglia, Ramos, Andrews and some other folks of the early 2000's.

This is an example of where I started getting a grip on the cartoon style I work in now. This was a lot of Disney, Don Bluth, Hanna Barbera and European artists digging into my brain and enveloping what makes something look like it could be animated. Over the last year I've been squishing my head against a wall and finally coming to terms with where I'm at. I'm very happy with where I came out in the end.

And with that...I give you boobs. lol.

Liv from Ultra. Jonathan Luna said he wants to put this up on their site. I have another pinup going into an issue of Invincible. One that's up on PVPonline.com right now and possibly in a future issue of Justin. I think that's going to be my niche. The pinup/fanart guy who gets his work in people's books. Ah...that's funny but fun none the less. Oh and I got the gig with Pet Pro. So keep an eye on that page because my first strip is up. I'm still growing into the pallette and designs on that strip so shortly the strip will be looking emaculate. Thanks to Jason for giving me a chance to work on a REALLY funny strip. I'm really enjoying myself.

Anyhow, that's me in a nutshell.

Love, the Ninja.

Who is this girl and where can I meet her?

Okay, normally I ignore the hell out of ads and banners and what not, but this stupid damn ad keeps popping up and waving it's demonic allure at me. It says with a sly grin "Look into our blinking Gif'ness. Look at the cute redhead who MUST be an artist or a photographer or a nerd, something that you'll like....look at her and buy our shit."

And honestly, I might. Damn her. I love you.

Now with color!

Felt like coloring this one up tonight. It was just fun. Yay fun!

Priscilla's Sketches

Well I was at Priscilla's tonight with my boy Shane and we were just scribbling around. I've always been a fan of Doc Samson. He's just...fun.

So I did up some designs tonight of Doc Samson, Abomination and Thunderbolt Ross.
Hella fun to do. I think I'll end up doing something with these designs. Maybe just a fun page of sequential stuff. Nothing too serious, but FUN. Because fun is good and good is fun.

Last up I did this just because I was in a 'wrong' place tonight heh. And this is just plain wrong.

Pet Professional

Here's the first strip I've done as a sample for Pet Pro. I'm going to have to figure out my palette on this strip. But for the first shot it was pretty funny I think.

Pet Professional

I just recently saw a post on Pet Professional that said they were looking for a new artist for the strip. It's not a paying gig, but honestly the strip is funny enough that I would be honored to be considered.

So I sent the writer a lil design piece of The Pet Pro to show him my thoughts on him. Not a high quality piece or anything (but it's a sample for now.)

Anyhow, HOOWAH I updated my blog.

In other bloggy news, I just got a new computer and this thing is freaking Rad. Dude, I got a Dell! In any case, I also got City of Heroes. Anyone who's played this game will likely tell you that it's digital heroin. So addictive. I got it last night and played until I had to go to work this morning. Thank you rockstar energy drink for saving my brain this morning.

Other news...I'm going to be at both Wizard World LA and San Diego Comic Con this year. So drop by artists alley to say hi if you're there. =)

Buh Bye.
