In brightest day in really late nights

Working late tonight. Did a doodle in 10 minutes I could spare.

I thought the GL movie was hilariously bad...but don't worry Hal, we still love ya.

Bettie Pages

Just continue to rework into simpler more streamlined stuff. This is also a practice run for a freelance gig I'm working on right now involving Bettie.

Lobomance

Something a little disturbing while I continue to try and refine both my style and my brush work.

The Fox and The Crow

So the last couple of weeks I've been working on an assignment in Storyboarding class that is an adaptation of Aesop's Fable "The Fox and The Crow". This assignment nearly killed me because we had to take what is basically a 3 sentence fable and flesh it out into a full story including new dialogue and scenes. I LOVED this assignment because it pushed me harder than any previous, but I hate myself during this assignment because I re-wrote and re-drew it 3 times in a 3 week period.

Seriously. First time it was 200 panels. Hated what I had done. Second round was 160 panels and it completely missed the point of the assignment. Round 3 is around 120 something panels (the pics below are only the first few scenes) and by the time I got done with the 2nd act, I was rewriting again, but mostly fine tuning and redrawing panels and finally having to sketch out the last 30 panels or so because I didn't have time to do any clean work on those ones.

I am officially the worst director I've even worked for. haha. I need to work on focusing on moving ahead with a story and being a better editor before getting past the thumbnail stage into clean ups.

Granted not all boarding jobs require you to be a writer, but being able to think like one and self-edit to plus a script on the job will definitely make me a stronger board artist.

Balloon Buffoon

I posted the thumbnails to this assignment a while back. I just hadn't gotten around to uploading the full size boards. Some of these boards are still really rough. This is in part due to overlapping homework assignments as well as the clarification from our class that pointed out this assignment was about storytelling and flow rather than clean ups. So I ended up not doing cleanups after I think 5 boards. I made a few adjustments from thumbs to boards to help screen flow.

There's also a dire lack of sound effects added into certain boards. I hadn't gotten around to filling that stuff in. Maybe after the class is ended I'll go back to these boards and finish clean up and adding all the bells and whistles (literally), until then this is strictly an escalating sight gag to sit back and enjoy.

Toothless

Another quick set of How To Train Your Dragon. I'll have to draw Toothless about 100 more times before I figure him out.

Constantine Boards

We had an assignment in class a couple weeks ago where we had to take a film and breakdown a scene to boards. I chose Constantine and I'm okay with the results.
